I uninstalled
GIANTS and everytime I start up morrowind it says "can't find
GIANTS.esm" then after that I crash to the desktop. Is
there like a proper way of uninstalling Giants other than the
uninstall program?

Giants also
installs itself as a program...it will be listed in your add/remove
programs listing in your control panel in windows. Then again...if
you accidently made ANYTHING dependent on the GIANTS.esm..uh boy are
you introuble if ya did. My best suggestion, just go ahead and
reinstall morrowind<after uninstalling the old one>. And
hopefully none of your mods are dependent on giants...

try
uninstalling it, if that doesn't work, harrass Puma about it... this
is just one of the numerous reasons I don't run GIANTS...
If
all else fails, reinstall

It's not a
dependency problem. The problem has to do with Puma being
snip, actually - uninstalling GIANTS will also uninstall
necessary components of Morrowind. You'll have to reinstall.

The exact same
thing happened to me a few months ago. I had to completely delete
and reinstall everything Morrowind related. I don't touch those
pumaman mods with a stick anymore. Really overated stuff.
I'm probably making enemies saying this, but it needs
saying.

Really?
Can you be a bit more specific? What parts? Why would it do
that? You sound like you mean it's deliberate. How so?

Uh excuse me
but i dont think making personal acttacks against the author of the
Mod in question will help to solve the posters problem.I dont think
Puma Mans intent was to bust his butt creating a huge Mod just so he
could have people complaining on how it wrecked their Morrowind
installation.
This isnt aimed at detritus2004 by the way.He
stated what he said in a respectful manner.
When i rarely uninstall GIANTS ULTIMATE or any other version
of it i always use the Add/Remove programs function in the control
panel. Also i believe Puma Man warned that most likely any saves will
most likely be ruined after uninstalling his Mod.Check out his site
for alot of information on these types of issues and how to avoid
them at:

Best
wishes on getting your game back to normal.

I agree. In fact, I'd like to
emphasize we don't appreciate any personal attacks to anyone on

If you want to
remove the enitre mod, meshes and textures included, you'd best
uninstall GIANTS then re-install Morrowind, incase any key files are
missing.
In my case, I removed just the esm and loaded an
earlier save without GIANTS. Esms are good for minimising doubling
bugs ect, but a real pain to get rid of once you don't want
them.

Unless the user screws up in
the Construction Set and makes the .esp for another mod dependent on
the .esm file, an .esm mod shouldn't be any harder (or any easier)
than an .esp mod to uninstall.
It's a matter of how much the
mod adds to the game world, how cleanly it makes its changes, etc.,
not whether a mod is an .esm or an .esp.
When removing any
mod that adds a lot to the game or makes significant changes to
parts of the game, it's probably safer to start over from a save
game made before that mod was first installed.
As far as
Giants goes:
I tried it for a while a year or so ago. I don't
know what kind of installer or uninstaller it uses now, but the
installer last year would overwrite existing files without
prompting, even if the files it was replacing were newer than
the ones included in Giants. I let the installer put the files into
an empty directory, then manually installed them, which avoided the
problem. (I found out about the overwriting by doing some
testing.)
When I decided I wanted to get rid of Giants, I
discovered there was no documentation at all for the
uninstaller; that was enough to persuade me to ignore the
uninstaller and just delete the .esm file (or .esp file? Don't
remember now) and the uninstaller, without trying to uninstall the
other files.

I never let an
exe or zip install any mods to my Morrowind folder. I usually dump
the contents of an exe or zip to a folder outside of my Morrowind
folder and then manually install the mod files. That way, I know
exactly what is going where.
To uninstall a mod, I generally
uninstall the game and then reinstall the game and all the mods I
want minus the one I don't want. Because I keep a library of mods
outside of my Morrowind folder, it is really not that much work to
reinstall the 30 to 40 mods I use.
Of course, if the mod I
want to get rid of is small, I might go through the data files and
simply delete out what I don't need. Since I keep a library of mods
outside my Morrowind folder, I can easily see what files I need to
delete to get rid of any given mod.
I am very much against
mods junking up the Start menu. I wish modders would stop using
installers when a simple zip file would suffice. Keep it simple.

Same here, it looks cool, but
while running it, I couldnt go anywhere without it saying something
was missing and crashing.
then when i uninstalled it it
crashed up everything, I had to blow everythying away and start from
scratch.
good idea, badly implemented.
